Hello Friends!! I hope the start of July has been great for you! :)
I hope you are able to stay cool!
As we think start to think about the beginning of the school year coming closer ... one Kindergarten Standard that will be taught is Handwriting! Handwriting is something that we probably do not like to teach because it can become repetitive. I have created some handwriting activities that you can add into your Handwriting instruction to help "Spice Up" your curriculum.
I use these activities in my own classroom and you can find them in the HANDWRITING section of this blog!!!
This is just one of the activities you will find in the handwriting section:
The High Frequency Word Practice Book!!
In your classroom or at home use these pages to help your students or child practice the high frequency words. This activity gives students the opportunity to recognize high frequency words, use letter cubes or literacy tiles to build the word, trace the word with correct letter formation and then model that correct letter formation by writing the word independently.
You can print these off and have students use a pencil, crayon, marker etc. to trace and write the words. OR you can laminate the pages and have students use a dry erase marker to practice tracing and writing the high frequency words. My students love using the dry erase method!
This is a GREAT tool to help your child/ students with reading and writing the high frequency words they need to know by sight to begin reading!! I use these in my classroom and we have a little saying we say when doing these pages "READ IT / BUILD IT / TRACE IT/ WRITE IT / READ IT AGAIN!!"
Well check out these resources and I hope you find them valuable in your classroom!
I strive to produce quality materials because I use these items in my own classroom!! :)
Until Next Time,
Julie
